The main task of the young Japanese architect Mittsutomo Matsunov was to create a residential building with an area of 110 square meters, which at the same time was very limited by a small budget. This project was to solve the problem of expensive land plots in Japanese cities. The architect’s idea was to move away from the standard stereotype of a residential building with windows standing right after each other. Katayama apartments consist of seven aboveground floors that are divided into ten apartments. An elevator is available for all apartments of the building, as well as the staircase that is located on the south side of the building.
On the ground floor there is a garage that can accommodate a sufficient number of cars and bicycles. Some apartments are made in the style of high -precision meter and cover as many as two floors. This is clearly visible from the southern facade of the building. The interior decoration of apartments combines the simplicity of finishing materials and style, conciseness, practicality and thoughtfulness of the internal interior of the premises. In the design of the facade, all possible fire safety measures are taken into account. This was an additional task in building. As a result, the original and various balconies of the corresponding to fire safety standards for emergency evacuation. The liveliness and movement of the interior is transferred to the facade, to radiate cheerfulness and energy to the old -fashioned monotonous surroundings of Katayaama in Osaka. External colors are made in strict black and white combinations. This is done in order to show the presence of rational minimalism as opposed to the faded beige-gray coloring of the surrounding buildings.
