Thanks to the program for the modernization of the embankments. Marseille Foster + Partners studio designed a new building in the form of a naval pavilion. Among all kinds of innovations, it should also be noted the update of the surface of the embankment, the expansion of paving paths and a number of different pavilions.
External solutions in the execution of the forms of the pavilion are distinguished by their severity and simplicity. The canopy is made of stainless steel, the dimensions of the canopy are 46×22 meters, and it is maintained around the perimeter of elegant design with columns. The design of the pavilion is arranged so that the structure is open from any side. An interesting solution was the use of a mirror surface for the canopy, this allows you to create the effect of lightness, by reflecting the surrounding environment of the port and narrowing to the edge of the canopy.
Spencer de Gray, heading the Foster + Partners Bureau, notes that the pavilion is a reflection of the port literally. The design made of steel looks like a silver line merging with a horizon.
The design of the surrounding landscape was developed by experts together with the famous French master of his craft Michelian Devin.
There is also a granite coating of light shades in the landscape. Granite with its simplicity is highly durable and, like no other material, corresponds to the specifics of the port. To increase the availability, borders and level transitions were removed. The owner of Fasters and partners, giving explanations for the project, noted that the Marseille embankment is distinguished by the opportunity to fly fantasies due to a considerable area. In connection with which this excellent opportunity appeared to modernize it with the help of uncomplicated and effective means. Structures like pavilions are a great place to organize all kinds of events. At the same time, the pavilion allows you to hide from the scorching sun and occupies a relatively small space from the total area of the embankment.
